AES
Systems designed, built and installed the process CCTV system in the
disposal facility. The plant operators use the CCTV system to perform
all the chemical processing operations. Working with EG&G Defense
Materials, AES Systems continues to support the facility, meeting the
new challenges which chemical disposal brings, with innovative solutions.
The system provides the plant operators with the ability to control processes
and view operations remotely, from safely located work stations.
System
The process monitoring system consists of a matrix switching and control
system, utilizing over 30 control stations. AES Systems provided more
than 60 nitrogen purged/pressurized stainless steel cameras built to
the Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program (CSDP) specifications, including
pan/tilt units. The video system traverses the plant on a dedicated
fiber optic line. The dangerous nature of the chemical disposal processes
has presented unique challenges to the operators of the plant. Interior
monitoring of the incinerators and other high temperature environments
has required the need for custom engineered video products.
AES Solutions
• Incinerator Monitoring - AES Systems engineered
and fabricated cameras capable of direct insertion to the incinerators,
providing the operators with the ability to view the actual incineration
process, and allowing them to ensure complete destruction of the contaminated
materials.
• Borescope Cameras - AES Systems provided remotely controllable borescope
cameras complete with air cooling systems. This unique camera allowed
operators controllable viewing of furnace interiors through a small
water spray pipe.
